they were white anglo saxon protestant immigrants who came to america before 1890 and was well educated, skilled workers and held powerful positions and strived in the US
Why was religion and culture a problem with Americans and New Immigrants
americans were protestants but the new immigrants were mainly catholic so they had different cultural and religious views
What has immigration labour have to do with the New Immigrants moving to America
Americans see this as a disadvantage as they worried that cheap immigration labour would lead to competition between jobs and therefore lower the wages

They were blamed for crime, alcoholism and spread of disease and immigrants also were exploied to work long hours with low wages and could afford houses in poor areas with bad condition

Segregation in the south meant that white people were superior and black african americans lived in poverty due to dicrimination in housing and jobs

Anarchists believe that laws and government are unnecessary so therefore want to get rid of the government

This means that anyone is free to make profit and keep the money they earn so wealth is not shared equally

They thought it was bad for the economy and they realised that if it stopped, instead of criminals getting rich from it, the government and the public could profit instead. Also, poor people could not affored alcohol

Prohibition affected health as Alcohol consumption led to an increase in death rates because people were drinking alcohol non stop and the quality of the alcohol was not in good condition

Although Prohibition led to a decrease in crimes and dunkenness, there was an increase in organised crime. Gangs in America started fighting over the possesion of alcohol which led to violence and murder. Judges and police accepted bribed made by gangs in return for overlooking their illegal behaviour
