Pragmatic disputing
Allows person to move from catastrophising to rationalising.
Based on becks negative triad. Therapist identifies and challenges thoughts about world self and future. Client does own homework to test reality of beliefs.
CBT Pros?
Deals with cause (negative thoughts) not just symptoms -> long term solution.
Lot of research shows CBT is effective -> Hollon et Al relapse rates 40% 16 weeks of CBT, 45% drug therapy, 80% placebo.
CBT Cons?
Not appropriate for all clients -> must have motivation to complete
Too much emphasis on thoughts and not patient circumstance
Long time to complete.

Anger
