Test dose - due to undesirable effects are prolonger with depots.
Oral antipsychotic - give whilst stabilising on depot preparation
Depo preparations usually end in “decanoate”

Do not confuse with other preparations
IM haloperidol decanoate = maintenance treatment
IM haloperidol = rapid control in acute episodes
