11
Q

For aircraft wanting to depart GIG circuit during ATC hours, who should they contact and when should they do it?

16
Q

For local sorties, what should be advised on first contact with APP?

A

Intended area of operations for local sorties.

17
Q

When can aircraft transfer to the Silent/Traffic Frequency?

A

When approaching the PTA and cleared by ATC.

18
Q

What radio call must be made prior to entering the PTA?

A

An advisory broadcast must be made on Silent/Traffic frequency.

19
Q

What direction should the departure turn be at PEA/GIG?

A

In the direction of the circuit, unless cleared otherwise by the Tower controller.

20
Q

When departing RWY 18, when should a turn be initiated to remain 1.5nm laterally clear of the common boundary with Perth CTA?

A

Within 3nm.

21
Q

What vertical separation should be kept below the civil control steps?

A

500 ft

22
Q

How are IFR departures normally made?

A

1) Published SID
2) Departure track or a specified radial
3) Visual departure
4) Formation trail or ‘snake climb’ procedure

23
Q

When should pilots cancel IFR?

A

AS soon as practicable once the departure is complete and WMC can be maintained.

24
Q

Do IFR departures and missed approach procedures still need to remain vigilant for other traffic?

A

Yes as they are not positively separated from other traffic.

25
Q

Can the angle of climb be increased above published minimum gradients at pilot discretion in order to vertically separate from circuit traffic?

A

Yes

26
Q

Can IFR aircraft request a departure on a specified radial?

A

Yes but they are not to leave the departure radial in IMC without a clearance.

27
Q

Should aircraft advise when they are leveling off from climb/descent when in the TMA/OMA?

A

Yes

28
Q

Should pilots assume that all PTAs are occupied?

A

Yes

29
Q

What does an abbreviated clearance from ATC to PTA A mean?

A
  • Aircraft should expedite climb through 5000 ft to depart TMA, and are cleared to transit within block level 5000 ft - 12000 ft (5000 ft- 10000 ft for PTA A27).
  • Aircraft must avoid enroute occupied PTA segments
  • Once in transit block, A/C may manoeuvre vertically within it as required, but require a specific clearance to depart it
  • When routing via a transit lane or side radial is not practicable, A/C may transit via the OMA or above PTA A
  • Once established in PTA A, A/C are cleared to operate over the full extent o the defined airspace.
