Circuit Area Flashcards
What are the lateral and vertical limits of the PEA CIRA ?
Lateral: 5nm radius circle centered on the Pearce ARP
within R155A (Not including R153)
Vertical: SFC –> 3500 ft
What lateral and/or vertical distance must aircraft maintain from boundary of civil CTA?
1.5nm buffer or 500 ft below.
How far east may aircraft visually position?
Far east as the Great Northern Highway NA 1500 in proximity to R153A and NA 3000 in proximity to R153 B
How far south may aircraft visually position?
South of Maralla Road NA 1000 ft but no further south than an east-west line through Mt Mambup
What are the lateral and vertical limits of the Gingin circuit area?
Lateral: A circle of 5nm radius centered on the Gingin ARP, excluding the area other south within 12TAC Pearce.
Vertical: SFC –> 3500 ft
What are normal, low level and glide circuit heights at Pearce for PC21 all runways
Normal = 1200 ft
Low Level = NB 700 ft
Glide = 2200 ft
What are normal, low level and glide circuit heights at Gingin for PC21 all runways
Normal = 1300 ft
Low Level = NB 800 ft
Glide = 2300 ft
What is the minimum altitude for low-level circuit operations by day and night?
By Day = 300 ft AO
By night = Published circling minima
What is the preferred venue for circuit training?
Gingin
Who has right of way in the circuit?
Aircraft ahead
How far upwind should aircraft not arbitrarily extend?
1.5nm
What advisory call needs to be made on upwind for a glide circuit?
“Upwind Glide”
When pitching into the circuit, when should aircraft normally pitch before? What distance should aircrew make a “on the pitch - long” advisory call?
- The upwind threshold
- 2nm beyond upwind threshold
Should aircraft extend base turn point? What should they do if they cant turn base at that point due traffic?
No.
- If they can’t turn at the correct place they should go around from downwind/base behind the preceding traffic.
What procedures in the circuit require a clearance?
- High Key
- Displaced High Key
- Turn backs
- Opposite direction circuits
- Runway other than the primary duty runway.
In order to enter the circuit pattern, do aircraft need to sight all other aircraft in the pattern?
YES!
When ATC notifies a chance of runway, what should solo/mutual students do?
Depart the circuit pattern for initial or High Key.
What is defined as circuit saturation?
6 aircraft conducting continuous circuits.
What altitude should aircraft not descend below unless cleared for landing/touch and go/low approach?
200 ft AGL
What is the circuit direction at Pearce?
18L, R, 23 - Right hand circuits
RWY 05, 36L, 36R - left hand circuits
What is the preferred runway at Pearce?
RWY 18
When should 05/23 be used?
If crosswind limits are going to be exceeded on 18/36
What runway must aircraft take-off from at Pearce, unless directed otherwise?
18L/36R.
What runway should PC-21 aircraft conduct their circuit operations?
18R/36L
What runway should full stop landings be flown to?
RWY 18L/36R
If an S turn occurs, do aircraft have to go around?
YES
Can aircraft conducting a go-around/overshoot track along the runway centreline?
Yes , they can also track to dead side of runway.
If avoiding traffic on 18L/36R while conducting an approach to 18R/36L, where should aircraft track?
On the live side of the runway.
What runway is used for night operations?
RWY 18L/36R as the parrarel runway doesn’t have lighting
The is the circuit direction at GIG?
RWY 08 - right hand circuits, RWY26 left circuits.
