Density, Volume, Solids, Liquids and Gases Flashcards
What is Density?
A measure of how much mass occupies a given volume.
How do you calculate Density?
Density = mass / Volume
P = m / V
What is the process of a Solid changing into a Liquid and Vice. Versa?
Sublimation
What is the Internal Energy of a substance?
The Internal Energy is the energy stored by the particles of a substance.
How can you increase the Internal Energy?
- Increasing the temperature
2. Changing the state
How do you calculate the energy needed to change state?
Energy = mass x specific heat capacity x temp. change
Or
E = m x c x (temp. change)
What is Pressure?
Pressure refers to when a continuous force is exerted onto a surface
What is Boyle’s Law?
For a fixed mass of gas at a constant temperature, the pressure is inversely proportional to the volume.
