- in Scotland’s democracy each of the parties have to recruit people to stand + represent them, to be successful they will want to recruit candidates that will be popular to voters but also be strong supporters of the parties policies
- Labour in Scotland have been trying to recruit more women to stand as a way of showing the party is passionate about equality

- this is when the parties will organise their supporters + members to go out onto the streets, knock doors + try + convince people to support them
- the SNP went around North Ayrshire asking people to vote for them + their candidate Kenneth Gibson in 2021, he won that seat
