  • communities that have high levels of crime tend to have a ‘bad’ reputation, companies and businesses will not settle in areas that have a bad reputation, therefore these areas tend to lack job opportunities, leading to high rates of unemployment
  • for example, Ferguslie Park in Paisley is an example of an area which has financially suffered due to a high crime rate
