repesentative democracy is where the electorate elect a person to repesent there interests on their behalf

A

1) Trustee -> Where our Mps will act according to waht they think is best for the country
2) Delegate -> Mps act based on whar the majority of there constituancy wants

  • the purest form of democracy encourages participation
  • increases representation
  • gives the electorate more control over issues
  • holds parlement accounible

  • gives people who are less experienced the power to change a bill they don’t understand
  • referendums are not legally binding -> could damage democracy as there is no legislation to hold the government accountable

    -straight forward and understandable
