It safeguards against arbitrary government
It safeguards against mob rule
The law is king
What does it mean to have personal liberty?
To have self determination
The life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness
The absence of external restraint
The capacity to reach goals
What does respect for the individual mean in politics?
The American democracy makes the individual the central figure
The nation is less important than the individuals who compose it
What is the Democratic process?
Free and fair elections (privacy while voting. Has multiple candidates)
Freedom of expression and assembly (verbal and nonverbal, as long as you don’t violate others rights)
What are the elements of the constitution?
Federalism
Separation of powers
Checks and balances
Bilateralism
Bill of rights
