Degenerative disorders III Flashcards
Shoulder
OA of the shoulder is not as common
early stages- soft tissue operations to restore painless mobility of jt
for severe OA- TSR
TSR
must have intact RC to be option
reverse shoulder may be used in presence of RTC tear
deltopectoral incision is most commonly used
TSR: post surgery
phase I (hospital)
2-6 days
goals: protect healing structures, pain control, indep functional mobility for transfers/dressing/ambulation, education, HEP
common precautions- PROM for up to 6 wks, abduction pillow up to 8 wks, ER limited to 30 deg with humerus in adduction, sling for comfort
TSR: post surgery
phase 2 (outpatient, early ROM)
0-6 wks
goals: protection, pain control, improve sleep, normalize circumference measurement, mob of scar, ability to demonstrate norm posture and inc ROM
Post surgery: phase 3
6 to 12 weeks
goals: return to activities below 90 deg flexion, inc ROM, improved, inc muscle flexibility, improve neuromuscular control, inc strength, protection
post surgery:phase 4
12 weeks
goals: return to normal activities, full potential 6-12 months
