DeGangi Berk Test Flashcards
Criterion or Norm?
Crtierion
Purpose
Assessment for SENSORY INTEGRATION - looking for delays in sensory, motor, perceptual skills, and learning problems
Describe the test
Three subdomains including postural control, bilateral motor integration, and reflex integration
(**items in each subdomain assess many of the same components of different tasks in order to link them to the same general domain)
3-5 y/o
ICF domains addressed:
Activity Limitations and Participation Restrictions
Advantages
early detection of sensory processing deficits that could lead to learning difficulties
easy to administer - quick/efficient way to assess domains in unique postures and positions that resemble functional tasks
Sensitive to effects of intervention
track progress
Disadvantages
Limited age range
Only identifies that deficits in sensory integration are present (no cause)
Cannot be compared to a norm group
Does not fully assess quality of movement, mostly assess child’s ABILITY to complete task
Cant be used for eligibility
