What is alcohol – Section 191(1)?
Spirits, wine, beer, cider or any other fermented, distilled or spirituous liquor
What is a relevant premises?
Licensed premises, or premises in respect of which there is in force a club premises certificate, or premises which may be used for a permitted temporary activity (this means the place subject to a temporary event notice).
What is a Designated premises supervisor?
To ensure that there is always one specified individual, who must be a personal licence holder, who can be readily identifiable for the premises where a premises licence is in force.
What are licensed premises?
The definition includes both on and off licences together with other premises such as theatres, bowling alleys and other leisure facilities for which a licence has been issued.
What are licensing hours?
The hours during which intoxicating liquor may be sold to members of the public are known as the ‘General Licensing Hours’ and are fixed by law.
Remember Licensed premises do not have to open throughout the whole of the licensing hours.

What is a FULL ON-LICENCE?
Permits the sale of all kinds of intoxicating liquor for drinking on or off the premises.
This type of licence is required for a public house.
What is an OFF - LICENCE
Permits the sale of all kinds of intoxicating liquor for consumption off the premises only
This is required for an off-licence, wine merchant and other retail outlets that sell intoxicating liquor as part of their business, such as supermarkets and grocers
