Double-blind study
Both subjects and researchers are unaware of which group the subjects are in.
Blind study
Subjects are unaware of what group they are in, control or experimental, but the researchers know.
Open label
A term used to describe the situation when both the researcher and participant know the treatment being received
Placebo effect
When participants “feel better” just because they are involved in the study.
Peer reviewed journal
Panel of scientists rigorously evaluate a research study to assure that the scientific model was followed. Written by and for professionals, with cited sources. Most are peer reviewed.
Randomization
Everyone in the population has an equal chance of being chosen
Control group
Given traditional or standard care/medication. May also be given placebo if no treatment exists.
Subjects
Who is getting researched.
