Body Piercing
The puncturing of a part of the body of a live himan being to create a permanent hole for ornamentation or decoration
Dermal Implanting
The insertion of an object under the skin of a live human being for ornamentation or decoration
Earlobe Piercing
The puncturing of the soft lower part of the external ear of a live human being for ornamentation or decoration (does not include the puncturing of ear cartilage)
Electrolysis
The process by which hair, with a series of treatments, is permanently removed from the skin by inserting a needle-conductor into the hair follicle and directing electrical energy toward the hair cell
Facility
A fixed or mobile place of business operated on a regular or irregular basis for the purpose of providing services in one or more fields of practice
License
Written authorization issued under ORS 690.365 authorizing the holder to a) perform services in one or more fields of practice or b) operate a facility
Temporary License
Written authorization issued under ORS 690.365 temporarily authorizing the holder to a) perform services in one or more fields of practice or b) operate a facility
Scarification
Injury of the skin to produce a scar on a live human being for permanent ornamentation or decoration
Tattooing
The process by which a live human being is marked or colored by insertions of non toxic dyes or pigments to for, indelible marks or ornamentation or decoration
Practitioner
A person licensed to perform services included in a field of practice.
Antiseptic
Relating to a denoting substance that prevents the growth of disease-causing microorganisms
Clean
Free of dirt, dust, and other soils

Enclosed Storage Area
Any space used to contain materials that has a wall or partition on at least three sides or three-quarters of its circumference and that screens the material stored therein to prevent emissions of the material to the air
High-level Disinfectant
A chemical agent, which has demonstrated tuberculocidal activity and is registered with the EPA
Low-level Disinfectant
A chemical agent that destroys all vegetative bacteria (except tubercle bacilli) and destroys most viruses - including Hepatitis B virus and human immunodeficiency virus. These agents are not effective against bacterial spores.

A room or other area with special equipment and facilities for procedures
Sharps
Devices with sharp points or edges that can puncture or cut skin
Sharps Container
A puncture-resistant, leak proof container that can be closed for handling, transportation, storage and disposal. Must be labeled with a biohazard symbol
Single-use
A device used on an individual during a single procedure and then discarded. It is not intended to be sterilized and used again, even on the same individual

The process that kills all microbial life
Completed Procedure
A tattoo which has been finished on a live human being, including any touch-ups or additional work following initial healing, and the client released from service.
Needle Bar
A length of stainless steel wire with a loop on the end that can be fitted to the part of the tattoo machine that creates the up and down motion. It has a grouping of individual needles soldered into place at the other end
Re-pigmentation
The art of tattooing flesh tone pigments into the skin or scar to blend, minimize, and conceal discolorations
Theory
Classroom or book work related to the area of practice you are training in
Direct Supervision
The teacher is directly involved and present in direct oversight and training of the students
