An attempt to understand social life/society. Has a sensitivity to the social aspects of life. Systematic approach to studying the social life
Society
A large social grouping that shares the same geographical territory and is subject to the same political authority and dominant cultural expectations
Social interaction
The process by which people act toward and respond to other people
Common sense
Everyday knowledge derived from personal experience and or intuition
Myth
Popular but false notions which can be used to perpetuate certain beliefs
Media
Often biased, uncritical, sensationalist, ideas that can strongly influence public opinion
Macro level analysis
Focuses on whole societies, large scale social structures and social systems
Micro level analysis
Focuses on small groups and the social dynamics
