Hasty Configuration

Tailgate Configuration
- Used for treatment on the
move or short halts - Extremely rapid set up and tear
down time, but is restrictive in
complicated injury treatment and
easily susceptible to MASCALs - Minimal equipment to initiate lifesaving treatment (TCCC) while additional equipment can be unloaded to support
- Load plans play an important role in rapidly deploying more necessary equipment if necessary
Short-Term Configuration
- Used for locations where medical support is relatively safe from enemy attack and movement of the Role 1 BAS is not expected for
longer periods of time (PMESII-PT dependent) - Includes all equipment and tables
- Usually includes a tent for the treatment area
Long-Term Configuration
- Used for locations where medical support is relatively safe from enemy attack and Role 1 BAS is fixed
- Includes set up of all equipment available
- Usually includes tent or hardstand building and generator/air conditioning
Who makes up the Ambulance Team?
- 1 emergency care sergeant or SPC
- 2 ambulance aides/drivers
Ambulance Team functions
- To collect and treat the sick and wounded on the battlefield and to safely evacuate them to the nearest role of care or ambulance exchange point (AXP)
- Maintins contact with support elements
- Provides Class VIII resupply to combat medics and CLS
Combat Medic Section (functions)
- To foster good interpersonal relations and morale of combat troops
- METT-TC(I) dependent > during lulls in combat operations they should return to PLT for consultation and training
- Makes their assessment, administers initial medical care, initiates a DD Form 1380, requests MEDEVAC or RTD
- Assists in the training of the PLT’s CLSs in enhanced first aid procedures
- Requisitions Class VIII supplies from the BAS

Two: Alpha team and Bravo team

Battalion Surgeon Responsibilities
- Serves as the medical advisor to battalion commander and staff -> advises BN CDR on the health of the battalion and employment of the medical platoon
- Responsible for all medical treatment provided by the platoon
- Supervising physician (medical officer/field surgeon) of the medical platoon’s treatment squad - “Bravo” Team when treatment squad splits
Role of the Medical Operations Officer (MEDO)
- Operations/readiness officer for the platoon
- Plan, coordinate, and execute the AHS support for the battalion
- Works with the battalion surgeon and PA to ensure medical treatment and AHS support requirements are met for the battalion
- Primary leader for medical platoon operations, admin, training, logistics. Assists the battalion surgeon in planning and directing Role 1 care for the BN.
- Conduct MDMP with BN staff
Role of the Medical PSG
- Leads the platoon in the PL’s absence and supervises the platoon’s administration, logistics, and maintenance
- Ambulance squad leader
- Training of the medical platoon soldiers and training/supervision of operational security procedures
- Directing all resupply and maintenance activities, using DMLSS
Role of the Physician Assistant (PA)
- General technical health care and admin duties
- Clinical professional for treatment team alpha when squad breaks
- Assists in the supervision and oversight of all medical treatment provided by platoon personnel
- Plans, conducts and or supervises, the medical training of all battalion personnel with guidance from the medical platoon leader and battalion surgeon
- Assumes the clinical leadership roles and responsibilities of the battalion surgeon in their absence
