Brigade Support Medical Company (BSMC) Mission
- Provides Role 2 medical care to supported maneuver battalions with organic medical platoons
- BSMC provides Role 1 and Role 2 medical treatment on an area basis to those units without organic medical assets operating in the BSA
- BSMC may deploy their treatment teams forward from the company for limited periods of time

Medical Treatment Platoon HQ Functions (same for MCAS and BSMC)
- Serves as the C2 element of the platoon
- Monitors Class VIII supplies and blood usage
- Verifies and updates patient status for how many patients are in the trauma bay, patient hold or the area support squad sections
Medical Treatment Squad Functions (same for MCAS and BSMC)
- Reconstitute and reinforce treatment squads of the Battalion Aid Stations (BAS)
- Provide emergency and routine sick call treatment to soldiers assigned to supported units
- Can operate for up to 48 hours while separated from their parent unit

- One treatment squad
- Serves as base medical treatment element of a Role 2 MTF
- Provides sick call services and initial resuscitative treatment, Advanced Trauma Management (ATM), and Emergency Medical Treatment (EMT) for supported units

Area Support Squad Functions
- Co-locates with Area Treatment Squad and Patient Holding Squad
- Operational dental care (minor maxillofacial injuries, limited preventative dentistry, dental x-ray, and consultation)
- Basic diagnostic lab services and specimen collection
- Routine X-ray and radiographic film processing capability
Patient Hold Squad Functions - BSMC
- Provides up to 72 hour patient holding
- Equipped with 20 cots
- May serve as an overflow recovery area for patients coming from the collocated Forward Resuscitative Surgical Detachment (FRSD)

Mental Health Section Functions
- Responsible for assisting commanders in preventing/controlling operational stress throughout BCT and for units within their assigned AOR
- Promote positive combat operational stress behaviors
- Prevent unnecessary evacuations through forward treatment and RTD
- Counsel personnel with personal, behavioral, or psychological problems
- Collect and record social and psychological data
