The deep cervical nodes can be divided into two groups based on the vertical anatomic position of the nodes to the point where the omohyoid muscle crosses the internal jugular vein: what are the two groups?
Superior and inferior
The Superior deep cervical lymph nodes are located?
adjacent to internal jugular
What do the Superior deep cervical lymph nodes drain?
Maxillary 3rd molars (#1 & #16), posterior hard palate, soft palate, base of tongue
Where does the superior deep cervical lymph nodes drain into?
into the inferior deep cervical nodes
Where are the Inferior deep cervical lymph nodes located?
deep to SCM
The Inferior deep cervical lymph nodes are a continuation of what group?
a continuation of the superior group
What do the inferior deep cervical lymph nodes drain?
most lymph from the head
posterior part of the scalp and neck
Where do the inferior deep cervical lymph nodes drain into?
into the jugular trunk……..then to the heart.
