What must be done if you get a flat tire while driving?

A

1) take your foot off the gas and LET THE ENGINE SLOW YOU DOWN
2) hold the steering wheel firmly, and look/steer in the direction you want to go
3) when the vehicle has slowed down and you have control, apply gentle, steady pressure to the brakes
4) move to a safe place to park
5) turn on your hazard warning lights

A

When vehicles without ABS brakes brake too firmly, causing the wheels to lock. Steering control will be lost. If this happens:

1) take your foot off the brake pedal. When the wheels start to roll again, steering control will return
2) look and steer in the direction you want to go

A

When moisture freezes in the road surface. Usually drivers can’t see it. It looks shiny and black.

A

1) use extra caution in areas with wildlife warning signs

3) be careful at dawn and dusk, animals tend to be more active at these times

5) if an animal suddenly appears in front of your brake hard and try to move away from oncoming traffic
