When turning left what should you remember?
1) They are a leading cause of crashes
2) stay close to the right of the centre line with your wheels pointing straight ahead
Who goes first at a four way stop?
The driver who gets there first, however if two vehicles arrive at the same time, the driver on the right goes first. These intersections are called courtesy corners.
How do traffic circles and roundabouts work?
ENTERING a traffic circle:
1) enter the right hand lane if leaving at FIRST exit
2) enter left lane if leaving at SECOND EXIT OR BEYOND
When DRIVING IN A CIRCLE:
The vehicle on the right must yield to the vehicle on the left
When EXITING THE CIRCLE:
Turn on the right signal and use caution
- do not change lanes when in a circle!
What happens at an uncontrolled intersection?
If there are no traffic signs or signals, slow down and be prepared to stop. Yield the right of way to the vehicle on your right; treat as a four-way stop.
When turning right what should you remember?
1) yield right of way to pedestrians
2) shoulder check for cyclists
3) if a vehicle is parked immediately around the corner, turn into the first available lane to the left
How are traffic circles and roundabouts different?
The centre island of a roundabout is smaller than the centre island of a traffic circle.
How many demerit points are added for driving past your curfew, having more passengers than seatbelts or supervising a new driver when not qualified to do so?
2 demerit points.
How many demerit points are added for failing to stay at the scene of a collision?
7 demerit points.
