Deck 4- Force & Motion Flashcards
PS 2.1
decreasing
to become less in number, amount, or size
speed
the rate at which an object moves through time
direction
the line or course along which something moves, lies, or points
non-contact force
the force between two objects that are not in physical contact. (e.g. gravity)
contact force
the force between two objects that are in physical contact
(e.g. throwing ball)
increasing
to grow or rise, or to become greater in number, amount, size
force
a push or pull that causes an object to move, stop or change direction
motion
the process of an object moving or being moved
Change in Mass
the increase/decrease in mass requires an increase/decrease in force needed to create motion
friction
a contact force that is created anytime two surfaces move or try to move across each other
gravity
the non-contact force that pulls a body towards the center of the earth
