Andrew Jackson was known for passing the Indian Removal Act, which forced Native Americans to travel from their homes that were passed on for generations, and also did not give them much freedom if any at all. His predecessor was Martin van Buren.

The Trail of Tears was the result of the Indian Removal Act, in which over 100 thousand Native Americans were forced from there homes to walk barefoot to present day Oklahoma in very harsh weather. This trip took 3 months, and over 15 thousand died on the way. Furthermore, people were only allowed to dig a shallow grave, and they didn’t even have time to mourn, they had to keep traveling.
