Day 13 - Miscellaneous Systems Flashcards
What components are located on the accessory gearbox
DC starter generator, N2 speed sensors, oil pump, hydromechanical metering unit (HMU), hydraulic pump, engine driven fuel pump
The maximum thrust loss due to EFC failure could be __
40%
When engine shutdown is due to a ______, a loud bang will be audible
Failed turbine rotor shaft
T/F - If the engine will not start with the ignition switch in STBY, the manual mode should not be used
TRUE
The engines should be manually synchronized within __ before synchronization is used
1.50%
At what percent N2 does the starter/generator begin acting as a generator
35 to 40
The engine fire extinguishing system uses what type of extinguishing agent
HALON
What occurs when an ENG FIRE switchlight is pressed
Respective fuel and hydraulic valves are closed and both extinguisher bottles are armed
In the event of a FLAP ASYM annunciator, a __ assymetry is indicated
Main flap
Why does the stick shaker actuate twice during the stall warning test
To test the altitude compensator
__ on the AOA indicator represents maximum value of lift/drag (L/D Max)
0.6 (actually 0.45 - verify with Dash 1)
What are the primary flight controls
Elevator, spoilers, rudder
The elevator has a range of __ degrees up and __ degrees down
25, 12
Full travel range of the rudder is __ degrees left and right of neutral
30
T/F - The rudder boost system is not designed to fully compensate for the loss of thrust in an assymetric condition
TRUE
T/F - If a trim system malfunction has occurred it is acceptable to use the failed system if necessary
FALSE
T/F - The magnetic compass is unreliable when the windshield heat is set to HIGH
TRUE
Can high windshield heat mode be used during takeoff and landing
No
With the TCAS set to ABV/BLO the protection window is +/- __ feet
9900
A TCAS RA is displayed on the MFD as a symbol.
Red square
There are __ emergency lights in the aircraft cabin
4
When can the ELT be tested
Within 5 minutes after each hour
How long is the BPO good for?
72 hrs unless aircraft was flown
Explain Anti Ice/Deice systems tests
(insert explanation)
What is the chine on the nose wheel used for?
Direct flow of water and slush away from engines.
What should you do if starter does not drop out by 45%
Press the starter disengage button. If yellow start button and white disengage button do not extinguish, cut-off the throttles, battery switch off and turn both master generator switches to EMER.
What does it mean when the Fire Bottles blowout disc is missing?
Bottle contents may have been discharged due to ambient temperatures for thermal relief. Consult maintenance
Why does the AC BUS shed light come on during the EMER Test on preflight?
Because the No.2 inverter is being powered by the Emergency Bus
How do you know if the oil qty indicator is bad or if the qty is low?
If the indicator is bad the light won’t illuminate when pressed to test. If the light tests good but does not light up when the level check switch is pressed then the oil level is low or the system has failed. Visually check dipstick.
What are the restrictions for unusual attitudes?
5000 ft AGL, Initiate recoveries above 130 KIAS and below 270 KIAS. Do not exceed 45 deg of bank. Max pitch 25 deg NU and 20 deg ND
