Day 10 Flashcards
If a customer has ISDN with multiple channels what will you see on the asset list?
You will see multiple ISDN assets indicating the number of channels
If a customer has ISDN and has issues with the different channels and the network doesn’t have a fault and the test don’t she a fault what could be the issue and what would be the next step? And why would you contact internally?
To get an engineer from glamorgan team to pay the site a visit and have a look at the system’s.
Gethin
If someone has a guest SSID (network) Abe other networks in their building and they don’t show up on the router when logged into it at the top right hand side where it shows the SSID(s) what does this mean?
It means they likely have a patch mesh system network which are acting as extensions to the router which have there SSID which is separate to the router and thus don’t show up on the router when logged in. They are essentially there in routers.
If a customer is not able to see their SSID on their phone or device what could this mean?
Faulty - if the customer is in close proximity to the router it could mean the router could be faulty.
Wi-Fi is turned off - if the customer is in close proximity to the router and the Wi-Fi is off it needs to be turned back on.
Location issue - if the customer is far away from the router and it is tucked away somewhere then it is a proximity issue.
Interference - could be interference from a microwave and/ or other devices.
If a customer is to use a default gateway to login to their router what needs to be the case?
They need to be connected to the router first.
What is the default gateway?
It is 192.168.1.1, it is the IP address that broadband users use to login to their router.
What does clear unconfirmed mean?
It is an invitation to either confirm or reject the clear. It means the engineer had confirmed that the job is in the clear and it needs to be confirmed on our end.
Can Openreach engineer remotely run tests to see if there is a fault present or to fix the issue?
Yes
If a customer has two broadbands one with ourselves and with another provider and they are saying that we are supplying BB to their equipment but ultimately we don’t know whether that is true and they are saying the computers are connected to it and the website pages won’t load how can you tell if the computers are genuinely connected to our network?
- Check on the router what wired devices are connected if unsure what that device is look up that devices MAC address on MAC address lookup and it will detail what that device is.
- Get the customer to type in my IP address on that computer/ device then look up that IP address to find out who supplies it.
If a customer is having difficulties connecting to a router wirelessly what alterations can you make to the router to see if this rectifies the issue?
Login to the router:
- Change the MTU
-
