Data visualization Flashcards
frequency table
how often values are observed shown in a table
absolute value
count. the number of times you have observed a value
relative frequency
number of times you have observed a value, expressed as a percentage
relative valid frequency
when people leave questions in a survey blank
cumulative frequency
add percentage of a group to percentage of previous group
pie chart
nominal ordinal
not too many groups
less ratio than bar chart
easily see % of groups
bar graph
nominal ordinal
good to visualize frequencies
bars are apart from each other
clustered bar graph
nominal ordinal
next or on top of each other
combine two graphs
histogram
divide date into fixed groups
8-10 groups often
stacked against each other as the groups are connected
box plot
line in the middle is 50%
line indicates rest of the data
Q1 25% Q2 median Q3 75%
line graph
watch variable change over time
interval ratio
scatterplot
interval ratio relationship between variables postive line up negative line down no correlation straight line
