Affinity Diagrams
Allow large number of ideas/defects/issues to be classified into groups for review/analysis
Cause-and-Effect Diagrams
A cause and effect diagram, often called a “fishbone” diagram, can help in brainstorming to identify possible causes of a problem and in sorting ideas into useful categories. A fishbone diagram is a visual way to look at cause and effect.
AKA: Fishbone Diagram, Ishikawa
Flowcharts
The depiction in a diagram format of the inputs, process actions, and outputs of one or more processes
within a system.
Histograms
A graphical display of data using bars of different heights. It is similar to a Bar Chart, but a histogram groups numbers into ranges . The height of each bar shows how many fall into each range.
Matrix Diagrams
A quality management and control tool used to perform data analysis within the organizational structure created in the matrix.
The matrix diagram seeks to show the strength of relationships between factors, causes, and objectives that exist between the rows and columns that form the matrix.
Scatter Diagrams
Graphs the relationship between 2 variables, each plotted as a dot, allowing definition of a common trend line
Burndown Chart
A graphical representation of work left to do versus time.
The outstanding work (or backlog) is often on the vertical axis, with time along the horizontal. Burn down charts are a run chart of outstanding work.
It is useful for predicting when all of the work will be completed
