Who a clinical psychologist might work for
Most work for NHS, or in private practice. The BPS has a register of chartered clinical psychologists that can be contacted about work through BPS. Other agencies can employ clinical psychologists, e.g universities. Some are self-employed.

Monday to Friday, though sometimes they wok evenings and weekends
Earnings of clinical psychologist
30,000-70,000 pounds
Skills required to be a clinical psychologist
Strong interest in healthcare and science
Be interested in people
Be able to listen, understand, reflect on the situation of others
Be able to help with solutions
Understand diversity (that people are different)
Learn to ask open question
Be able to look at own experiences and how these affect others
Be prepared to search for solutions that are not obvious

Qualifications required to be a clinical psychologist
1) Degree in psychology- one that is recognized by BPS
2) Get relevant work experience
3) Apply for place on doctorate course, which lasts 3 years and is full-time
Achieving chartered status as a clinical psychologist
This means you have satisfied requirements of BPS, and have sufficient qualifications and experience to be called a psychologist, and have the backing of two chartered psychologists. They must keep up with CPD
