Cytokines Flashcards
TNF
Pro-inflammatory, APP.
IL-1
Pro-inflammatory. Stimulates T and B cells to develop.
IL-12
Increases INF-gamma and cytotoxic activity.
INF-gamma
Activates macrophages via NK cells. Increases MHC I/II and CD4/CD8 activity.
INF-alpha/beta
Increases MHC I expression. Activates NK cells.
Produced in viral state.
IL-10
Anti-inflammatory. Decreases MHC II content.
IL-6
Synthesis of APPs and B cells.
IL-15
Proliferation of NK and T cells.
IL-18
Increases INF-gamma synthesis (activates macrophages). Increases cytotoxic activity, also. Stimulated by caspace-1 in the inflammasome.
IL-4
B cell activation/proliferation.
TGF-beta
Anti-inflammatory.
IL-8/CXCL-8
Recruits neutrophils.
IL-5
Stimulates B cell growth and IgA formation.
IL-2
Stimulates T cells and clonal expansion.
IL-3
Stimulates differentiation into the myeloid linage. If combined with IL-7, stimulates differentiation into the lymphoid lineage.
