CXR Flashcards
What anatomy can you see on CXR?
-lungs/pleura
-heart/mediastinum
-airways
-upper abdomen
-bones and soft tissue
Soft tissues on CRX, what can you see?
-supraclavicular lymph nodes
-axillary lymph nodes
What is CXR pleural anatomy?
Normal vs abnormal?
-pleural space surrounds and separates lung lobes
-normal=barely see pleural space, there may be a small amt of physiologic fluid
-abnormal=can see pleural space either filled with air (pneumothorax) or fluid (pleural effusion)
What part of heart can be seen on CXR
1) border of SVC
2) right atrium
3) left ventricle
4) right hilum btw 1+2
5) left hilum btw 3+6
6)Aortic arch
CXR airway anatomy?
-trachea
-right mainstem bronchus
-left mainstem bronchus
Bones on CXR?
-normal=thoracic cage and 10-12 posterior ribs
-clavicles
-check for boney lesions
CXR abdomen, what can you see?
-left diaphragm higher than right due to heart
-gastric bubble below L hemidiaphram
what is the right and left hilum comprised of?
-pulmonary arteries and veins
Where is mediastinum and what can you see in this area on CXR?
-btw aortic arch and left hilum
-see lymph nodes and mediastinal masses
