CVCS (Charging) Flashcards
1
Q
LCV-115C
VCT outlet Valve
power supply
location
A
- Motor operated (MCC6)
- Interlocked with the LCV-115B to auto-swap charging pump suction to RWST at 12.4” in VCT
- Charging pump room above charging pump B and c
2
Q
LCV-115B
Emergency Make-up to Charging Pump Suction
location
A
- Interlocked with LCV-115C to autoswap charging pump suction to RWST
- Designed to fail closed, but backup air will supply valve if needed.
- Charing pump room left when you walk in
3
Q
Backup Air System for LC115-B
Location
Duration
A
- Supplied by bottles in the Charging Pump Room
- Allows LCV-115B to remain OPEN on loss of power or IA.
- Allows maintaining “hot standby condition” with a natural circulation cooldown during a postulated appendix R fire.
- Sufficient volume to support Charging Pump operation for 8 hours
4
Q
Charging Pump Power
Cooling
PSI
A
A- DS
B- E1
C- E2
- Cooled by CCW, but can be supplied with Fire Water, Potable Water, or SW
- 2500psi discharge
5
Q
Charging Pump loos of air
A
- Fails to max speed (77gpm) on loss of air
- Backup air will provide 8 hours of normal speed control in the even of loss of IA
6
Q
HCV-121
Charging Flow Valve
A
- Normally fully open
- Fails open
7
Q
CVC-310 A, B
Charging Isolation Valves
A
- CVC-310 A goes to Loop A Hot Leg (alternate)
- CVC-310 B goes to Loop B Cold Leg (normal)
- Fail Open
8
Q
CVC-311
Auxiliary Spray Valve
A
- Used to cooldown/depress PZR when normal spray is not available
- Fails shut
- 320F ΔT between PZR and charging temperatures to protect the spray nozzle
9
Q
Charging pump seal water tank
A
- Supplied by primary water
- Excessive OVERFLOW- problem with the primary seal
- Excessive LOFF OS LEVEL- problem with secondary seal.
10
Q
Normal operation letdown GPM relation to charging GPM
A
- 45gpm from RCS for letdown
- Charging pumps 24gpm to RCpumps, 30gpm to charging
- 9gpm return from seals to VCT
- 45 comes out, 45 goes in normally
