A
- when a pt no longer needs it for IV therapy or medication and was written in the pt’s progress note by the medical team.
- faulty device
- occlusion or thrombosis
- ## there are signs of infection

Nursing Considerations
A
- establish aseptic field
- inspect any signs of discolourations, discharge, swelling or bruising
- check pt medical history and medication for ( clotting factor assessment, formation of hematoma)
- ## patient needs to lay flat on their back because of the risk of air embolism.
