Palpitations can be experienced in panic, (peri)menopause, hyperthyroid issues, or with red flags like chest pain & breathlessness.
SEDATIVES, CORDIALS, ANTISPASMODICS
Neroli, Melissa, Mandarin, Carrot Seed, Spikenard, Lavender
AVOID PEPPERMINT w/ FIBRILLATION
Neroli - Cordial, Sedative, Antispasmodic, hypotensive
Melissa - Antispasmodic, cordial, calmative, hypotensive
Mandarin - Antispasmodic, calmative
HYPERTENSION

Often linked w/ arterial narrowing & hardening & deposits of fatty plaques in arteries - ATHEROSCLEROSIS.
Kidney problems, water retention & stress are primary considerations.
HBP can be symptom free (the silent killer) or there can be headaches, irritability, blurred vision, breathlessness & palpitations.
Increased risk of MI &/or Stroke
HYPOTENSIVES, CORDIALS, PSYCH SEDATIVES, DIURETICS if water retention
Lavender, Neroli, Melissa, Spikenard, Carrot seed
If atherosclerosis monoterpene rich CLEANSERS, DEPURATIVES
Grapefruit, Lemon, Juniper, Carrot seed
Lavender - Hypotensive, cordial, sedative, nervine
Neroli - Cordial, hypotensive, sedative (CV & NS), nervine
Melissa - Hypotensive, cordial, calmative, nervine
HYPOTENSION

Low blood pressure - linked with facial pallor, dizziness, fainting, lethargy, cold extremities & hypoglycaemia.
Stress contributes to LBP as much as HBP.
RUBEFACIENTS (TCS) & HYPERTENSIVES
Rosemary - Rubefacient, hypertensive, circulatory tonic
Black pepper - Rubefacient, circulatory stimulant & tonic
Ginger - Rubefacient & circulatory tonic
POOR CIRCULATION & REYNAUD’S

Dry skin brushing, alternate hot/cold showers or hot/cold immersion of extremities helps improve capillary tone & circulation.
Vigorous self massage of hands & feet w/ TCS oils at 5% on a daily basis in cold weather is very helpful.
RUBEFACIENTS, CIRCULATORY TONICS
Rosemary - Rubefacient, circulatory tonic
Black pepper - Rubefacient, circulatory stimulant & tonic
Ginger - Rubefacient & circulatory tonic
HEART DISEASE

Gentle light massage is beneficial to emotional wellbeing & stress levels & therefore to overall health.
Decrease blend strength to 1% if client is particularly fragile, on lots of meds, recently post op or no prior experience of EOs.
CALMATIVE, RELAXANTS, SEDATIVES, CORDIALS
Neroli, Melissa, Rose Otto, Lavender, Palma rosa, May chang are all useful for emotional effects, heart affinity & refreshing aromas.
AVOID PEPPERMINT
Neroli - Cordial, sedative, hypotensive
Melissa - Calmative, cordial, nervine
Lavender - Cordial, sedative, nervine, hypotensive
