- School textbooks had to approved by the state
- new generation of communist teachers bought back discipline to schools
- all religions came under pressure, places of worships were shut and RE was banned. Attacks on Muslims in south USSR

THE NEW CONSTITUTION
A
- replaced the congress of the Soviets with supreme soviet of USSR
- everyone was allowed to vote
- voting done in secret so no one knew what u voted
- guaranteed workers rights to holidays

- “leader, Teacher, Friend” - given a friendly image and shown surrounded by happy children
- focus on his economic achievements - shown surrounded by modern factories, successful collective farms

REASONS FOR CULT OF STALIN
A
- gave the soviet people confidence that all the hardships and sacrifices were worth it (building socialism)
- long-standing tradition of Russia of ruler being a father for the whole country
- needed in order to gain support for the regime

- ART , stalins image as “leader,Teacher,Friend”, was depicted in paintings, murals & statues
- always careful to say that Lenin, the USSR and the people were more important than he was
- books, poems, plays - praised Stalin for his achievements, soviet history books ave Stalin a leading role in key events of the Bolsheviks Rise to power
