-elaborated code- used by the MC, based on longer and more grammatically complex sentence, seen as the correct way to speak.
-restricted code- speech code used by WC, with limited code and more simple sentences. Puts WC students at a disadvantage because it is not used as much as EC, they are culturally deprived.
What did Douglas’ study find out about parent’s attitudes on eduction for the children?
WC parents placed less value on eduction, causing children to be less ambitious and less interest in education, and less likely to discuss child’s progress with teachers.
