Cubital fossa and forearm Flashcards
Boundaries of cubital fossa
Medial: pronator teres Lateral: brachioradialis Superior: Line between medial and lateral humeral epicondyles
Contents of cubital fossa
biceps brachii tendon, brachial artery and vein, proximal radial and ulnar arteries and veins, median and radial nerves
Roof od cubital fossa
Bicipital aponeurosis

Connection between radius and ulna
Interosseous membrane

Tiny yellow branch is common interosseus artery
Tiny orange is posterior interosseus artery
Black is radial and ulnar arteries
Pink is anterior osseous nerve
Green is anterior interosseus artery

•Brachioradialis
–Action: **Flexes forearm**
–Proximal attachment: Lateral supracondylar ridge of humerus
–Distal attachment: Distal radius

Green

•Supinator
–Action: Supinates forearm
–Proximal attachment:
Lateral epicondyle of humerus
–Distal attachment: Proximal radius

•Extensor pollicis brevis
–Action: Extends proximal phalanx of thumb at metacarpophalangeal joint
–Proximal attachment: Posterior radius
–Distal attachment: Base of proximal phalanx of thumb

•Extensor pollicis longus
–Action: Extends distal phalanx of thumb
–Proximal attachment: Posterior ulna
–Distal attachment: Base of distal phalanx of thumb

•Extensor indicis
–Action: Extends digit 2
–Proximal attachment: Posterior ulna
–Distal attachment: Extensor expansion of digit 2
