Cubital articulation and radioulnar junctures Flashcards

1
Q

Elbow joint

A
  • Includes the hukmerus, ulna and radius
  • Three independent parts formed: humeroradial artriculation, hemroulnar artriculation and the proximal radioulnar artriculation

Q

Humeroradial artriculation

A
  • Links the capitulum humeri with the fovea capitis radii
  • Spherical joint with three axis of movement
  • Mobility limited by humeroulnar joint

Q

Humeroulnar artriculation

A
  • links the capitulum humeri with the incisura trochlearis ulnae
  • Trochlear joint - one axis

Q

Proximal radioulnar artriculation

A
  • Circumferentia artricularis radii is inserted into the incisura radialis ulnae
  • Incisura radialis ulnae is completed by a circular ligament / ligamentum anulare radii
  • Wheel-joint - longitudinal axis of movement

Q

Joint capsule

A
  • Attaches onto the humerus proximally from fossa radialis, fossa coronoidea and fossa olecrani
  • Along the sides the attachment of the capsule is shifted distally so that both epicondyles of the humerus are located extraartricularly
  • On ulna attached to the margins of incisura trochlearis
  • On radius it descends distallly into the regiomn of collum radii - creating the recessus sacciformis
  • Reinforced along the sides by ligamentum collaterale ulnare and ligamentum collaterale radiale running from both humeral epicondyles

Q

Movement of elbox joint

A
  • Combining all three independent artriculations results in only 2 axial movements: - flexion/extension (in the humeroradial and humeroulnar artriculations) and supination/pronation (in the radoulnar artriculation)
  • Middle position is found when the joint is pronated and lightly flexed
