A

Massive accumulation of uric acid

Why do people with gout have hyperuricaemia?

A

Purines broken down to uric acid, which is excreted in the kidney

Reduced renal urate clearancy = hyperuricaemia

-Idiopathic, familial or metabolic cause

Triggers = trauma or intercurrent illness
