- Adenovirus (conjunctivitis)
- Respiratory syncicial virus (RSV)
- Diphtheria before virus

Clinically
A
Inflammation of upper airway
Hoarse = dysphonia (difficulty), barking cough - barking seal cough - especially at night
Inspiratory stridor = same as acute epiglottitis
Inspiratory stridor = the problem is ABOVE the vocal cord
Expiratory = in the trachea
Biphasic = cancer

CLINICAL (mainly)
Best initial test: X-ray steeple sign (subglottic narrowing)
Most accurate test: PCR

- Acute epiglottitis EMERGENCY - RULE OUT BEFORE DIAGNOSING CROUP
- Foreign body inhalation
- Subglottitis stenosis
- Angioedema
