- cross cultural psychology looks at people’s behavior’s and thoughts in different cultures to see if they are same or cultural specific.
- Researchers can do this by comparing data between different cultures and is usually done with secondary data.
- If behavior is same across cultures it is nature and if different it is nurture.
- emic approach looks at behavior within the culture and focuses on that culture to understand it
- etic approach looks at cultures from the outside and draws on data from many cultures.
- alpha bias is when cultural groups are seen as different
- beta bias is when cultural differences are ignored and all people assumed to be the same
