Cromwell divided England up into 11 districts, each run by a major general. These men were strict Puritans and soon became very unpopular as they introduced many puritan style laws and ways.

Cromwell was a military and political leader in England who played a key role in the English Civil War, helped to create the Commonwealth of England and served as Lord Protector.

It was similar to a king but it was anointed by Parliament. They were responsible for leading the country and making important decisions.
