Critical analysis and evaluation Flashcards
What is Critical analysis?
in-depth, objective study of a product or component based on research to find problems with a design and to see how well it fits its specification.
How can commercial products be analysed?
the target market and purpose of a product is identified
a specification criteria is generated and used to analyse the effectiveness of a product
products are disassembled and each component is analysed within the context of the whole product
what is product recall and why should it be avoided?
when a product is inadequate or dangerous it needs to be returned to the manufacturer and replaced or refunded. this is avoided with good evaluative and analytical processes which will be cheaper than an expensive recall.
What is Third party feedback?
companies or organisations outside the manufacturer whole independently evaluate a product to ensure it meets legal standards
Focus groups in product analysis
individuals from the target market and asked to use and provide feedback on products to see where it can be used.
Third party standards
some organisations such as BSI evaluate products based on there own standards. displaying their mark for meeting these standards improves the reputation and desirability of a product
