how can “restorative justice” help in reducing the effects of imprisonment?

A

it is a process whereby all of the parties with a stake in a particular offence come together to resolve collectively how to deal with the aftermath of its offensive and its implications for the future
practitioner will invite victim (or family) and the offender (sometimes with family) to a meeting where the process is clearly explained. Encourage the offender to talk about the crime and why agreed to RJ + apology

How can JETS reduce the effects of imprisonment

A

Juvenile estate thinking skills are a specially designed programme designed to develop the cognitive (think) and behaviour (act) skills of a young offender aged 14-17
25 sessions lasting roughly 2-2.5 hours, each session is split into 2 parts.
PART 1: offender completes scenario based, though provoking exercises in a work book.
PART 2: group sessions with 6 people focusing on support in the community and sharing ideas.
