CRIMINAL PSYCHOLOGY: topic 2 Flashcards
how do you control contextual bias, having a target suspect and circular reasoning in forensic evidence
Dror says the examiner should be given 6 sample prints for comparison consisting of the comparison print + 5 plausible alternatives, the task would be determining if the print, if any prints matched the latent print rather than if the comparison print is a match. This avoids biased decision-making
How do you combat context effects in forensic evidence
Working in isolation from other evidence and other conclusions. Dror says the examiner should be unaware of the crime scene information, including whether the suspect has confessed, and avoid contact with the victims and their family to avoid bias.
