In person death notification made to next of kin
as soon as possible
two officers should be used and one of them in uniform
if two officers not possible then officer should secure help from neighbor, friend or relative, clergy or victim-witness coordinator
should be made prior to release to the media
Notification of release of offender
immediate telephone notification when: homicide, arson, robbery, DV, death by auto, agg assault, sex offenses, child abuse
telephone notification within 48 hours for all others
MV crashes involving death or serious bodily injury
name address and number of the victim and next of kin should be give to the prosecutors office
Line ups and photo reviews
victims should be accompanied to such including body IDs and medical examinations
Impact statements
written or in person impact statement before sentencing before court
Property returned
within 30 days of recovery
within 45 days of judgement when retained for prosecution
SART
sexual assault response team officer, rape advocate and a SANE (sexual assault nurse examiner) *criteria* victim is 13 or older occurred within the past 5 days consents to the SART activation
*team member will meet victim at the hospital within 1 hour or less
