“Crime is a problem. Describe, in detail, three ways that highlight that crime in Scotland and/or the UK is a problem” (8) *May be asked slightly differently (ie. Give evidence…)

A

One way that highlights crime in the UK is a problem is violent crime. This means that violent crime such as murder, knife crime, assault etc is still ongoing in the UK to a relatively large degree.
Evidence of this is in 2018 in the UK the number of teenagers being killed was the highest in more than a decade.

Another way that crime is highlighted in scotland as a problem is that domestic violence has increased. This means that more homes in scotland are becoming unsafe and people are more regularly victims of abuse and crime. Evidence of this is that police in Scotland recorded 65,251 incidents of domestic abuse in 2020-2021, an increase of 4% on the previous year.

Another way that crime is highlighted as a problem in Scotland is that fraud has increased. This means that more businesses and people have been affected by fraud and this is creating a problem for the economy as they lose money. Evidence of this is that fraud in Scotland has gone up by a whopping 194% in 2022 from the previous year 2021. (KPMG)
