stated it was a crime to discriminate against race or promote hatred due to racial differences - act was limited
what did the 1968 Race Relations Act state?
illegal to refuse housing, employment, public services due to race
what did the 1976 Race Relations Act state?
made indirect discrimination illegal and set up a commission for racial equality - made sure law was applied
what did the 1967 Road Safety Act state?
illegal to drive if amount of alcohol in blood exceeded a certain limit - intended to stop drink driving which became a serious problem by 1960s
what became an offense in 2003 to do whilst driving?
became a criminal offense to drive whilst using a mobile phone
what did the road safety law change to in 2015 to combat?
law changed in 2015 to combat the problem or driving while under the influence of drugs - limits were introduced for number of illegal substances + prescription drugs
what did the 1916 Military Service Act state?
introduced conscription to the UK, meant all single men aged 18-41 had to serve in the army - act allowed for a man to avoid military service if he was a conscientious objector (refuses to take part in war due to beliefs)
