why is greed a cause of crime ?
someone may feel like they deserve more than they have, they might desire money and not use legal methods to get what they feel like they deserve.
what is an example of greed ?
the wells fargo case- employees created many accounts that customers didn’t know about abd were charged for.
why may poverty lead to crime ?
they may not have enough money to provide for themselves and their family, and legal methods can’t do keep them afloat. they may be forced to turn to crime to get what they need.
what is an example of poverty leading to crime ?
shoplifting- which has risen in the uk because of the increase in poverty. they may have to do it to feed their families.
how can neurochemicals lead to crime?
they control how think feel and act. testosterone makes someone act more aggressive, more likely to attack people. oxytocin makes you more trusting towards others.
what is an example of neurochemicals ?
the research of Paul Zak. he discovered increasing oxytocin makes people less likely to betray peers.
how can brain structure lead to crime ?
some may have a malformed or damaged brain, if their amygdala is effected, which controls impulses, it may lead them towards committing crimes. it could satisfy them or make them feel alive.

professor james fallon investigates brain scans. shows serial killers and phsycopaths have the same patterns of damage to their amygdala.
how can genetics lead towards crime ?
someone may have a particular gene that makes them behave aggressively. the sequence of gene could prevent them from controlling their impulses. this may make them act more violently to something.

a gene linked to violent crime is the MAO-A gene,also known as the “‘warrior gene’. it tells the body to create higher levels of testosterone and other similar hormones.
how is a sentence a consequence for crime ?
this is a form of punishment where someone receives time in prison or some other form of punishment. it’s used as a deterrent to committing crime again. it could be custodial or non- custodial.

armed robbery- life in prison. carrying a knife- 2 years. armed robbery more serious
what is a lack of future prospects ?
perpetrator finds it hard to get work. may loose friends or their driving licence.
what is an example of lack of future prospects ?
jobs do not hire anyone with a criminal record, may end in poverty
how is family tension a consequence of crime ?
if punishment custodial they will have limited time to see family. or their family might be angry.
