what is an example of white collar crime ?
fraud, costs the uk £1bn last year. edwin maclaren earned £1.6m from tricking dozens in to giving up the rights to their homes
what is traffic crime ?
most common type of crime, dangerous driving, drink driving and speeding. penalties are suspension of licence to time in prison
what is an example of traffic crime ?
drink-driving. on adverse 7000 people die as result in the uk. new law in scotland has made a 17% reduction in deaths making it illegal to drink any alcohol before driving
what is violent crime ?
friend against a person eg murder, rape and assult. rarely premeditated, the crimes are known as ‘crimes of passion’ and are almost always not though out
what is an example of violent crime ?
black cab rapist- john worboys. who drugged and raped over 100 women. he got 8 years in prison and will be let out when he is no longer a threat to women.
what is social exclusion ?
they no longer feel like society had a place for them, may join gangs and commit crime to feel like they are part of a family and so they gain respect. may turn to vandalism to get back at society.
what is an example of social exclusion?
mario and nini documentary, they were made to feel unwanted and ended up in a gang, they said it made them feel like they were a part of a family.
what is a lack in role models ?
when someone has no one to look up to in their community they may look up to someone with power and money, which most likely be a criminal. they will start following their actions and commingling crimes themselves
what is an example of a lack in role models?
karen mckluskey- head of violence reduction unit- said that young people need s role model before the age of ten, especially boys.
what is peer pressure ?
when someone might feel forced into committing crimes because their friends pressure them into it. they may to it to fit in or seen cool. they may vandalise of drink underage because everyone else is doing it
what is an example of peer pressure?
the murder of latisha frazier- killed by a group of friends. johnie sweet pressured four people into the murder and clean up of their friend
