There are large gender differences in delinquent behaviours.
Egalitarian family (both parents employed): Hagan power and control theory
Parenting is more egalitarian, so daughters are less controlled.
Thus, there are smaller gender differences in delinquency.
Feminist criminology:
focuses on moving women and an analysis of gender, to the center of Criminology.
Characteristics of a criminal women
Characterized by inequalities of class, race, and gender.
Secondary victimization:
the victimization which occurs, not as a direct result of the criminal act, but through the response of institutions and individuals to the victim.
